Dahil sa Hilaw na Mangga
It was the 24th of December, eve before Christmas Day around 9pm. I was hanging out at Liberation before going home at Ate Beth's apartment (where I stayed the whole time I was in PI), when I decided to swing by at Betty's little store in the corner of Union Civica and Luzon Ave. Plano ko lang sanang bumili ng hilaw na mangga, the only thing I loved eating during my entire 5-week stay! But then, I decided to hang out and chit-chat with Betty and Danny, and then after a while they got so busy when people start buying their last minute Christmas gifts. Part of the deal is, if you buy a gift, gift wrapping is free. And since everything has to go, as in bawat tawad bigay, naging super busy sila. So, I said, ok, I'll do the gift wrapping while they were attending to the buying customers. And I swear, it was busy, I had boxes and boxes of gifts lined up for me to wrap! Damn, I was that slow? Or we were just selling like crazy! Their friends who were passing by even said: "May bago kang tindera?", and Betty would reply, "Oo nga eh, imported, at per hour ang singil" But for real, I had so much fun! We were able to sell a lot, almost everything actually! By the time I was about to go home, it was almost midnight. As I was walking home to Ate Beth's, kinda tired but very happy and fulfilled...I realized that something was missing...but then again, I was much happier than what I missed!
